U.S. Commission on Civil Rights to Begin Investigation into Campus Antisemitism

The U.S Commission on Civil Rights has set a date to begin their investigation into Campus Antisemitism. The public briefing was originally planned for November 2025 but was postponed due to the government shutdown. The Commissioners held a notational vote and unanimously agreed to hold the briefing on February 19, 2026. The briefing will be followed by a public Listening Session scheduled for the next day on February 20, 2026.

At its July 18, 2025 business meeting, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights voted to approve planning documents for its Fiscal Year 2026 Statutory Enforcement Report, The Federal Response to the Rise in Antisemitism on American College and University Campuses. The investigation, led on a bipartisan basis by Commissioners Peter Kirsanow (R) and Mondaire Jones (D), will examine how the federal government responded to civil rights violations pertaining to Title VI, specifically allegations of antisemitism on college campuses.

This vote advances the Commission’s unanimous decision in January 2025 to undertake the investigation. The effort follows a bipartisan request from over two dozen Members of Congress, led by Representatives Jake Auchincloss (D-MA), Kevin Kiley (R-CA), and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL).

The investigation is set to begin on February 19, 2026, with a public briefing at the Commission’s Washington, D.C. headquarters. This will culminate in a final report by the end of Fiscal Year 2026.
