U.S. Commission on Civil Rights Chair Rochelle M. Garza provides updates on the latest work the Commission has produced this week:
- Report release entitled, Federal Efforts in Examining Racial and Ethnic Disparities among Victims of Violent Crime
- The Commission hosted a roundtable and released a report on the Civil Rights Implications of the Federal Use of Facial Recognition Technology.
- Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, a member of the Congressional Bipartisan AI Taskforce, joined us for a conversation on shaping “the future of civil rights in the age of AI.”
- At our monthly business meeting, we heard from the Virginia Advisory Committee Chair, Danny Vargas who updated the Commission on their work looking into Police Oversight and Accountability.
- The Commissioners unanimously agreed to investigate and issue reports on:
- Teacher and Professional Shortages and its Impact on Minority and Disabled Students
- Language Access in Federal and State Social Safety Net Programs
