U. S. Commission on Civil Rights to Release Report: Federal Efforts in Examining Racial and Ethnic Disparities among Victims of Violent Crime

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights will release its report, Federal Efforts in Examining Racial and Ethnic Disparities among Victims of Violent Crime. This investigation aimed to understand federal efforts to evaluate racial disparities in crime victimization. The Commission examined what crime data show about the disparate impacts of violent victimization on minority communities.

As part of the examination, the Commission held a briefing on November 17, 2023, where Commissioners and Commission staff listened to testimony from subject matter experts such as government officials, academics, community advocates, impacted persons, and written testimony from the public.

The report will be available on the Commission’s website on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 10 am eastern time at https://www.usccr.gov/reports/briefing-reports.
