The Illinois Advisory Committee (Committee) continues its series of public virtual briefings until the end of 2026. The purpose of these events is to hear testimony examining the use of AI technology in law enforcement that may give rise to discrimination based on any federally protected category, any denial of equal protection of the law in the administration of justice, and abridgement of privacy rights.

The Committee invites members of the public to share a public comment at any of the scheduled briefings. Additionally, members of the public are welcome to submit written comments to afortes@usccr.gov or through an online form https://wkf.ms/4faxjxy. The Committee will accept written comments by January 30, 2027.

Committee Chair Ivy Sack said, “AI is fundamentally reshaping our society. But what are the tradeoffs as it relates to its application in law enforcement and our civil rights and liberties? Our Committee will examine this topic by inviting multiple stakeholders to share their perspectives. We especially invite those who have been directly impacted to share their testimonies with us.”
