The Michigan Advisory Committee (Committee) to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (Commission) will convene a series of public, web-based briefings to discuss Artificial Intelligence and Civil Rights in Michigan. The Michigan Advisory Committee will issue findings and recommendations in a report to the Commission after all testimony has been received.
Chair Roland Hwang said, “The Michigan Advisory Committee is eager to understand the civil-rights implications of artificial intelligence when it is used in the public-sector or government-regulated sectors in Michigan. We hope to offer recommendations for safeguards needed to preserve the civil rights of Michigan citizens while allowing beneficial uses of artificial intelligence to proceed.”
The Committee invites oral and written testimony from the public, including (for instance) experts on this topic.
