The Ohio Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights will convene a series of public, web-based briefings to discuss the incidence and civil rights impact of antisemitism in Ohio. The study will consider whether and how antisemitism is manifested in social, institutional, and political settings, and the broader implication of the phenomenon and related policy interventions for civil rights protections.
The briefings will take place:
Panel II: Wednesday July 16, 2025, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Eastern
Online registration at: https://shorturl.at/TK1Nj
The Committee will hear testimony from community leaders, academic experts, advocates, and law enforcement officials representing a range of contemporary perspectives. More details about these briefings are available here.
Members of the public will be invited to speak during an open comment period near the end of each meeting. This is an ongoing study, and additional panels may be scheduled throughout the summer of 2025, at the Committee’s discretion. The Committee will accept written testimony submitted to Sarah Villanueva at svillanueva@usccr.gov throughout the duration of the study.
Closed captions will be provided. Individuals requiring other accommodations should contact Sarah Villanueva at svillanueva@usccr.gov at least ten business days prior to the meeting to make their request.
Committee Chair Lee Strang states, “Religious liberty is a fundamental commitment of our Republic, enshrined both in the United States and the Ohio Constitutions. It is imperative that all Ohioans are free from religious discrimination as well as ethnic-based violence and intimidation in our State. We look forward to addressing rising concerns of antisemitic activity in Ohio and identifying a positive path forward.”
The Ohio Advisory Committee will issue findings and recommendations in a report to the Commission after all testimony has been received.
