Mental Health Care in the Juvenile Justice System in Texas

The Texas Advisory Committee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights is hosting a a public hearing to receive testimony to examine mental health care within Texas Juvenile Justice facilities. The Committee will consider civil rights concerns with regard to disparities within the juvenile justice system in the state and its impact on individuals on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, and national origin. Through this fact-finding exercise, the Committee will provide recommendations on the legislation and administration of these topics. This meeting is free and open to the public.
